Local Non-Profits
As part of our commitment to waste reduction, recycling and public education, this grant program provides local non-profits and community groups the opportunity to provide additional projects, programs, events and education on issues related to solid waste.
Each quarter, we set aside a percentage of our landfill tipping fees for this grant program. The amount available is dependent upon that quarter’s revenue. Each applicant is eligible to receive up to $2,500 annually. Applications are reviewed on an on-going basis by an internal review committee and are then presented to the Commission for approval.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Open to non-profits, governments and community groups within the communities the Commission serves: Bettendorf, Blue Grass, Buffalo, Davenport, Dixon, Donahue, Eldridge, LeClaire, Long Grove, Maysville, McCausland, New Liberty, Panorama Park, Park View, Princeton, Riverdale, Walcott, and unincorporated Scott County.
- Grant dollars may only be used at/for/in facilities, public and private spaces located in Scott County, Iowa. Grant dollars must benefit Scott County residents or Scott County environment.
- If applicable, organization’s garbage must be disposed at Scott Area Landfill to be eligible. Receipt from hauler must be filed with grant application.
- Funds are awarded on a reimbursement basis. Applicants must submit their project proposal/plan for review prior to implementation, not after completion.
- All applicants must detail how they plan to publicize their project and Waste Commission of Scott County’s support of the project.

Grant recipients are required to complete a Final Report at the end of their project, detailing the use of their award and documenting outcomes and results, how the project was promoted and the Commission recognized. Must also submit high-resolution digital or hard copy photos of the project.
