Garbage is hauled by Republic Services on Tuesdays. All garbage must be in bags inside garbage cans with lids. Pickup begins at 7 a.m.
Buffalo has mandatory recycling. Recycling must be in Republic cart; contact City Hall for a cart if needed. Republic Services will pick up every other week on garbage day. See acceptable items
Republic Services recognizes six major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Garbage collection will run one day late for all communities that have collection
on or after a holiday during the holiday week.
Bulky Waste/Bulk Items:
One bulky item per household can be set out on the first pickup day of the month.
Property owner's responsibility. Items may be taken to Waste Commission of Scott County. See Scott Area Landfill
Electronic Waste Recycling:
Residents may take items to the Electronic Demanufacturing Facility
for recycling at no charge.
Residents may take items to Waste Commission of Scott County, by appointment, at no charge. See Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facilities
Once a year in the spring. Call in early April for the date.
Brush, Tree Trimmings and Christmas Trees:
Call Public Works at 381-3530 to have names put on a list for chipping as time permits.
Grass and Leaves:
Republic Services will collect grass and leaves on garbage day. Material must be in biodegradable paper bags with yard waste stickers ($1.75) from City Hall. Homeowners must schedule pickup with city hall.
Oil may be taken to the Scott Area Landfill
or Scott Area Recycling Center
Burning is allowed of limbs and branches. No garbage, burn barrels, building materials or grass.
