Garbage Collection: Allied Waste collects garbage on Thursdays. Must be at the curb by 8:00 a.m.
Recycling Collection: Allied Waste collects recyclables every other week on Thursday. Must be at the curb by 8:00 a.m. in city recycling bins.
Collection Holidays: Allied Waste recognizes six major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Garbage collection will run one day late for all communities that have collection on or after holiday during the holiday week.
Appliances and Bulky Waste: The city has Spring and Fall Cleanup Day.
Electronic Waste Recycling: No city arrangements. Items may be taken to the
Electronic Demanufacturing Facility for recycling.
Cleanup Days/Weeks: Spring and Fall.
Tires: Tires will only be taken on Spring and Fall Cleanup Day.
Brush and Tree Trimmings: If bundled and tied according to regulation, will be picked up by the city on Tuesdays. Must have to curb by 8:00 a.m.
Christmas Trees: Picked up by the city truck if placed at the curb.
Grass and Leaves: Picked up by city truck if placed by curb before 8:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and in City of Long Grove yard waste bags. The bags may be purchased at City Hall or at North Scott Foods for $1.50 each.
Motor Oil: Oil may be taken to the
Scott Area Landfill or
Scott Area Recycling Center for recycling.
Household Hazardous Materials: Items such as paints, pesticides, cleaners and other toxins in the home should be taken to one of the
Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facilities.
Burning Regulations: Leaves may be burned Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. NO GRASS burning is allowed.
