2012-2013 County Garbage Guide

Garbage Collection: Allied Waste picks up on Wednesdays.
Recycling Collection: City provides a recycling bin. Allied Waste picks up every other week, early on Wednesdays. See
acceptable items.
Holidays: Allied Waste recognizes six major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Garbage collection will run one day late for all communities that have collection on or after holiday during the holiday week.
Appliances and Bulky Waste: Spring cleanup day.
Electronic Waste Recycling: Residents may take items to the
Electronic Demanufacturing Facility for recycling at no charge.
Household Hazardous Materials: Residents may take items to Waste Commission of Scott County, by appointment, at no charge. See
Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facilities.
Tires: May be taken to
Scott Area Landfill.
Cleanup Days/Weeks: One day in the spring (to be announced).
Brush, Tree Trimmings and Christmas Trees: Property owner’s responsibility.
Grass and Leaves: Property owner’s responsibility.
Motor Oil: Oil may be taken to the
Scott Area Landfill or
Scott Area Recycling Center for recycling.
Burning Regulations: Lawn waste and trimmings may only be burned on property that is its place of origin.
