Garbage Collection: Garbage is collected by Allied Waste on Mondays. If Monday is a holiday, pickup will be on Tuesday that week. Garbage should be placed at the foot of the driveway by 8 a.m. It may be in bags or cans but should not exceed 50 pounds each.

Recycling Collection: Recyclables are picked up on Monday by a different truck. Recyclable materials are to be placed in the blue recycling bin available to each residence.

Collection Holidays: Allied Waste recognizes six major holidays: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Collection will run one day late for all communities that have collection on or after a holiday during the holiday week.

Appliances and Tires: Picked up on annual cleanup day.

Electronic Waste Recycling: No city arrangements. Items may be taken to the Electronic Demanufacturing Facility.

Bulky Waste: Picked up weekly.

Cleanup Days: The town has a cleanup day each year, generally in the spring. The actual date is published in the town council minutes. Items not ordinarily taken, such as tires, appliances, water heaters, carpet, and some building supplies, will be collected at this time.  

Yard Waste: Begins April 1 and runs until Novemeber 30. It is picked up weekly on garbage day, but by another  truck. Yard waste should be bagged in paper bags. Place a foot of driveway. Branches and twigs should be cut in no more than 4 foot sections and tied in bundles. No bundle should exceed 50 pounds.  

Christmas Trees: Picked up one specific day after the holidays (to be announced) on a regular garbage day.  

Motor Oil: Oil may be taken to the Scott Area Landfill for recycling during their regular hours.

Household Hazardous Materials: Items such as paints, pesticides, cleaners and other toxins in the home should be taken to one of the Scott Area Household Hazardous Material Facilities.

Motor Oil: Oil may be taken to the Scott Area Recycling Center or Landfill for recycling.
