Sharps Containers and Disposal:
For safety reasons, please do not put needles or containers with needles into your garbage or recycling. The Commission’s Sharps Program provides residents of Scott and Rock Island counties with red, rigid containers for sharps disposal free of charge at the following locations:
Homebound residents, please call 563-326-8618 for arrangements.
Full containers may be dropped off at the Scott Area Recycling Center - Household Hazardous Material Facility, 5640 Carey Ave., Davenport. No appointments are necessary, and you no longer need to park your vehicle and walk inside the office. Simply pull under the awning and a staff member will come out to assist you.
As an alternative, residents may dispose such items in rigid laundry detergent containers with lids tightly securd with tape (no milk jugs or coffee cans with plastic lids, as such plastics are too soft for safe disposal). Mark the container appropriately to prevent it from being placed in your recycling bin or trash.
