November 01, 2013
DAVENPORT—Got leaves? We have good news! You can properly dispose of them—and other yard waste from your property—at no charge. Here's what you need to know:
  • Davenport residents (with city pickup of garbage and recycling): No sticker required through Nov. 30, 2013 for yard waste bags placed at the curb on your garbage day. For Yard Waste Cart Service subscribers, the usual pickup fee will not be charged. For more information, visit the City of Davenport Website or call Public Works at (563) 326-7732.
  • Bettendorf residents (with city pickup of garbage and recycling): No sticker required through Dec. 6, 2013 for yard waste bags placed at the curb on your garbage day. For more information, visit the City of Bettendorf Website or call Public Works at (563) 344-4088. (No-charge collection was set to end Nov. 30 but has been extended.)
Another option for residents of Scott County is to drop off yard waste at the Davenport Compost Facility, 2707 Railroad Ave., Davenport. No tipping fee will be charged through Dec. 1, 2013. For details, visit the Website or call (563) 328-7225.

Did you know? Tossing yard waste into the trash is actually illegal. The Iowa Legislature banned yard waste from landfills in January 1991, making it illegal for residents to place yard waste in the trash.
