Join sustainable agriculture discussion Nov. 25

November 20, 2013
Farming is a huge piece of the environmental equation in Iowa, and no one knows this better than Francis Thicke.

Thicke—an Iowa dairy farmer, environmentalist and nationally known speaker on agricultural issues—will speak at 7 p.m. Nov. 25 at Bettendorf Public Library, 2900 Learning Campus Drive. The event is free and open to the public.

A flyer for the event promises lively discussion of current agricultural practices' effects on soils, and information about how organic farming can help stem soil problems.

Thicke's visit is made possible by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services. The event is part of Davenport's SCENE project. SCENE stands for Sustainable City Empowered Network for Education.
