2017 Holiday Recycling Guide

Wondering what's OK to recycle in your Go All In recycling cart this season? Check out this list!

YES, it goes in!

  • Boxes (such as those from electronics, toys, shoes and shirts)
  • Empty wrapping paper tubes
  • Gift/shopping bags made of paper
  • Tissue paper
  • Greeting cards & envelopes (even photo cards)
  • Newspapers, magazines & catalogs
  • Pie plates & aluminum foil
  • Popcorn and cookie tins

NO, it doesn't go in.

  • Wrapping paper
  • Ribbons & bows
  • Styrofoam (even if it has a number on it)
  • Plastic bags and films (even if they have a recycling symbol and/or a number on them)
  • Plastic bags filled with recyclables. (All items must be placed in your cart LOOSELY.)
  • Artificial Christmas trees*
  • Christmas lights**
  • Electronics of any kind**

Have an artificial tree you don't want, but that's still in good condition? Donate it to Habitat for Humanity Quad Cities ReStore, 3629 Mississippi Ave., Davenport. (563) 391-4949, www.restoreqc.org

** Electronics recycling
Holiday lights—along with computers, monitors, televisions, printers, digital cameras and video game systems—are considered electronic waste, or e-waste. These items may be dropped off for recycling from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to noon the first Saturday of the month at the Electronic Demanufacturing Facility, 1048 East 59th St., Davenport. Residents of Davenport and Bettendorf may place large e-waste items at the curb for pickup on their recycling/bullky waste day. Get your collection schedule online.

Cooking oil
Frying a turkey? Strain out the solids from the oil and bring it to the Household Hazardous Materials Facility, 5640 Carey Ave., Davenport. Oil will be recycled. Free for residents of Scott and Rock Island counties. No appointment needed. More info: http://www.wastecom.com/Content/Facilities/Household-Hazardous-Material.aspx
